The IRS requires every employee to complete a few forms including the W-4, Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate. Unlike the W-2 Form which reports the wages and taxes of the employee, the W-4 Form allows employers to withhold taxes from their employee’s paychecks.
This is because the IRS wants every taxpayer to pay their income taxes gradually throughout the year rather than paying it all at once when the tax season arrives. If an employee withholds more taxes than their tax liability for a full year, they will receive a tax refund. If not, they will have to pay the remaining.
IRS W-4 Form 2020 Printable
Whichever IRS form you need, the agency offers them for free without any login or charge at all from its website. The complete Form W-4 is a four-page form but the only part that matters is the bottom of the first page which you will have to separate and give it to your employer.
How much taxes will be withheld from your check depends on the number of allowances you claim. Although there isn’t a limit on how many allowances you claim, the more you do, the more money will be withheld from your paycheck to pay your income tax, and vice versa.
From the link above, you can view, download, and print the W-4 Form from the IRS website. Just click the print button at the top right of the screen.
